Pripremili smo:

Prezentaciju proizvoda domaćih proizvođača, radionice za djecu, "šlajs trupaca", potkivanje konja, jahanje, "frumanske" igre, furmansku večeru na ognjištu i zabavu uz grupu Duo Texas.

Očekujemo Vas i ove godine

Furman Day

The sixth Furman Day event will take place in Crni Lug on Saturday, 13 August 2016 at 16:00. The program will include presentations of homemade products, children's workshops, log skidding, horseback riding, farriering, furman games, traditional furman dinner at the fireplace, and a performance of the Trio Gorani band.

Kirijašenje – log skidding – is a traditional family trade that was once passed on from generation to generation, from father to son. It developed particularly strongly following the construction of the Karolinska Road in 1732 and then the Louisiana Road in 1812, as the first main roads linking the continental and the coastal areas of the country. The railway, built in 1873, further aided the commerce in goods, including logs for timber that needed to be delivered from forests to storage sites and loading stations. Kirijašenje was very hard work, with the extraction of logs ongoing from dawn till dusk. People doing this work, called kirijaši or furmani, worked in incredibly hard conditions, regardless of weather conditions, including wintertime and temperatures falling below -20 °C. Logs sometimes needed to be delivered from felling sites that were located ten or more kilometers away from settlements. Kirijaši were frequently forced to survive on basic food only, using what little food they could take with them into the forest. Typical meals included simple food such as bread and polenta, bacon and onion, water or tea, and similar basic staples...

There was hardly a single household in Crni Lug that did not own horses, surviving by doing forestry work and engaging in kirijašenje. The traditional occupation of kirijaš (furman) finally disappeared towards the mid-1980s.

The Furman Day tradition in Crni Lug aims to preserve the memory of traditional forestry work, the life of furmans and various customs and crafts connected with their work, while also cherishing ancient folk traditions in general.
