The presentation of the Mosaic of LIFE Project and the meeting of the Collaborative Council will be held at the Laškovica Visitor Center on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 1 p.m.
The BIOM Association and the Krka National Park Public Institute invite all interested parties from the broader area of the Krka National Park, especially livestock farmers engaged in extensive grazing, to an informational meeting where the Mosaic of LIFE Project and various cooperation opportunities will be presented.
The Collaborative Council includes participants in occasional informal meetings where the project team and the interested local community can regularly exchange information on the implementation of the Mosaic of LIFE Project, gather various experiences and advice, and consult about the implementation of activities in the field.
The Mosaic of LIFE Project includes the implementation of restoration activities on at least 560 hectares of grassland (removal of unwanted shrubs), as well as improved management of an additional 1,020 hectares. Habitat restoration includes mechanical removal of woody vegetation, controlled burning under the expert supervision of firefighters, and, most importantly, the promotion of traditional grazing practices, as it was in fact the stock that have been grazing here for centuries that both shaped and maintained this unique landscape.
Through this project, we want to show that the preservation of nature can be fully in balance with human activities. Traditional grazing, which has shaped grassland pastures for centuries, has now become a tool for their restoration and preservation. The goal is to include local livestock breeders, beekeepers, farmers, foresters, hunters, firefighters, mountaineers, public institutions, and other elements of the interested public in the project, to encourage mutual cooperation, and ensure the continuity of restoration activities even after the project ends.
At the meeting of the Collaborative Council, the fifth since the beginning of the project, the activities planned as part of the project will be presented, with special emphasis placed on discussing how local livestock farmers can be involved in their implementation.
Meetings will continue to be held in the future, as long as the project lasts.
